Lightweight Directory Access Protocol
The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is an application protocol for reading and editing directories over an IP network. A directory in this sense is an organized set of records: for example, a telephone directory is an alphabetical list of persons and organizations with an address and phone number in each 'record'.[1]
